What is learning by teaching?
Learning by teaching is a method to learn something by explaining the knowledge they’ve learned to other persons. This will increase the understanding of the individual toward the knowledge he or she is teaching. In learning by teaching, a person needs to teach another person which could be a friend, sibling, or even stranger. It is not easy to teach other people to understand a thing, during the process of transferring knowledge, the persons who teach will need to have a certain understanding of what they’re explaining and express it in a way that is easy to understand.
How to learn by teaching?
Of course, with the current situation in which we all conduct online classes, it is not easy to find someone to teach. We don’t need to worry about this since learning by teaching does not necessarily require us to find a person to teach. Learning by teaching is similar to the Feynman technique. Feynman technique is about organised, simplified, and telling a story to learn. We need to identify and organise the subject. Write down anything you know about the topic. Then simplify, make what you understand about the topic simpler and easy to understand. Lastly is to explain everything to others or yourself. For example, a student that gone through online class might find it difficult to have someone to listen to their story on what they’ve learnt. In this situation, the student can imagine explaining it to a kid.
