We live in a totally different world nowadays. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every sector in the country such as education, business, tourism, and so on. As for education, it causes teachers and students to find themselves in unanticipated online learning. Despite the pros where students can study conveniently at home and study at their own pace, the problem that arises from this situation is the student does not study effectively during online learning. Why does this happen?

Lack of self-discipline

“With self-discipline most anything is possible. " - Theodore Roosevelt -

Not everyone has that same enthusiasm for studying. Sometimes they need encouragement from peers around them. During pre-COVID-19, students can come to the class with their groups of friends together and have a discussion with the friend beside them about the lesson learned in the class but now everything has changed. Students can no longer interact with each other physically and this has lessened their motivation in studying. When a class is conducted, they may not give their full attention and are not fully engaged during the lesson. Thus, decreasing the productivity of learning.

Prone to technical issues

While some are engaged in their online learning class, some are having technical problems such as connection, audio, or video problem. Nothing disrupts more than these problems as the outcomes of the lessons may not be delivered properly to the students. Plus, some students that use an outdated computer would encounter a problem like inconsistent deliverable of the performances. When these kinds of problems happen, the students will not catch up with some part of the lessons and it can be difficult for them to study back on the related topics.

Expose to procrastination

For some students, it may be good as they have a lot of time to self-study. However, there are some students that will expose to procrastination. This is because most students are having their online learning classes at home where there are comfort and convenience. An irresponsible student will take this as an opportunity to enjoy leisure while being home. While this is not wrong to do yet more of leisure and enjoyment in the house may lead them to procrastinate. This may cause low efficiency of studying for the students. For instance, they will do assignments at the last minute before submission or simply take studying for granted.

Conclusion

To conclude, these factors may cause the inefficiency of studying to the student. If it is not in control, it will affect more on the study in the future. Preventive measures need to be taken so that the students can cope with the challenges and try to improve to be better students. Thus, having a much more productive studying.
